Questions people actually ask

Including the ones with awkward answers. If something you need to know is missing here, ask us directly and we will add it.

Can I use CoverOps today?

Yes. Sign up at platform.coverops.dev and connect one AWS, Azure, GCP, DigitalOcean or Oracle Cloud account with the read-only role CoverOps generates. The free scan shows your total waste and the top three findings in minutes. The audit lists every finding with its fix, from ₹24,999 + GST, reviewed by an engineer within 3 working days.

Want to see what the report looks like first? The sample audit on this site is real output from the waste engine, run on the built-in demo estate.

Does my infrastructure run on CoverOps servers?

No. CoverOps reads your accounts; it does not host anything. Your workloads stay in your own AWS, Azure, GCP, DigitalOcean or Oracle Cloud account, under your billing, in the regions you choose.

We operate through a role you create in your account, with a permission boundary you control. There is nothing to migrate onto and nothing of yours sitting on our infrastructure.

What happens if we stop paying, or you go out of business?

You keep everything. Your workloads never ran on us, and every change CoverOps applied was an ordinary provider API call, recorded in your CloudTrail or Activity Log. Delete the role and your infrastructure carries on exactly as before. The only thing you lose is the monitoring that finds new waste.

That is a deliberate design constraint, and it is the main thing we would want you to verify before trusting us.

Are you SOC 2 or HIPAA certified?

No, and we will not imply otherwise. CoverOps is not itself certified.

What it does is help you produce the evidence your own audit needs: a named approval on every change and a change history in the console, and your organisation's data (audit log included) can be exported as JSON from Settings. There is no auditor-ready evidence pack yet. Those are inputs to your audit, not a substitute for it.

Does this replace hiring a platform engineer?

It is not a replacement for engineering judgement. What it replaces is the work nobody has time for: continuously checking whether every server, volume and database in your cloud accounts is earning what it costs.

For genuinely novel architecture decisions, a good engineer who understands your business will beat us. CoverOps applies known-good patterns well; it does not have opinions about your particular domain. Teams that get the most from it usually have engineering judgement in-house and want to stop spending it on plumbing.

We already have a cost tool. Where does this fit?

Alongside it, not instead of it. CoverOps reads what you already run through a read-only role; nothing is rebuilt. If your existing cost tool covers cloud reporting and chargeback well, keep it. The mature FinOps platforms are genuinely better at that than we are.

What CoverOps adds is the fix: each finding priced in rupees, applied only after a named person approves it, with a rollback, and an engineer-reviewed audit with a refund if it finds less than its fee.

Can I see changes before they are applied?

Always. Every change arrives as a proposal with the evidence, the estimated saving and the risk. It only applies after a named person approves it, and only on resources you have tagged coverops:managed=true.

At approval the live resource is re-read; if anything changed since the proposal was raised, it is invalidated instead of applied. Every applied change keeps a snapshot so it can be rolled back.

Which clouds and stacks do you support?

All five connect live and read-only: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, DigitalOcean and Oracle Cloud. DigitalOcean and Oracle Cloud are newer and still being proven on real accounts, and fixes on them are advice-only for now.

A live account on a provider without a live adapter is refused, never quietly served simulated data. Every cost figure says whether it came from your billing data or from public list prices.

What does it cost?

The free scan costs nothing. The audit and the monthly plan are set by your monthly cloud bill: up to ₹10 lakh, the audit is ₹24,999 and the plan ₹14,999 a month; up to ₹50 lakh, ₹49,999 and ₹39,999; up to ₹2 crore, ₹99,999 and ₹99,999. Kubernetes, CI/CD and Monitoring ops are ₹9,999 a month each. All plus GST. The audit is refunded if it finds less monthly waste than its fee, and credited against a plan started within 60 days. Cancel any month. Above ₹2 crore a month, we quote.

It is never a percentage of your cloud spend or a share of what we recover. Both of those give a vendor a reason to want your bill to stay large, which is the wrong incentive for a product whose whole job is shrinking it.

Who is behind CoverOps?

A small engineering team that has spent enough years on call to be unsentimental about how infrastructure work actually goes.

Coverops Private Limited, registered in Telangana, India. If you write to office@coverops.dev, you will be talking to someone who writes the product.
